“I didn’t even want him”
These words about our second, the baby, sting me like a searing hot blade to the chest.

But honey it took two to tango and you knew exactly the aim of the dance we were having.

I take solace in the knowledge that he’s too young to understand these words you so flippantly spout in his presence but my heart breaks nonetheless.

Without missing a beat your tune changes and you beg for more time with him — “a boy needs his father” but I don’t think you realise you’re his father but you’ll never be his dad, his daddy, his role model. How can you be when you so casually dismiss his very existence?

You needn’t worry, I’ll never say a word - I don’t need to. Actions speak louder than any false declarations of love.
